Youth Ministry
Youth at FBC Henderson
Our mission is to establish and nurture middle and high schoolers’ personal call to discipleship as they navigate their individual understanding of what it means to follow Jesus by connecting with God, each other, and others through Biblical understandings, fellowship, and missions.
Our Ministry Goals Are…
To create a nonjudgmental, trusting, loving atmosphere where youth feel welcome to ask questions, talk about hard topics, and can encounter God.
To facilitate spiritual growth and individual connection with God that encourages them to follow the way of Jesus, inside and outside of the church as they establish their own faith through Scripture.
To help the youth know their identity in Christ and role in the Body of Christ
To have fun and build healthy spiritual relationships with peers and mentors that foster personal and spiritual growth.
Sunday Morning Youth Activities
Youth Sunday School for Middle School and High School at 9:45 a.m. on the 3rd floor. This is a time of fellowship, and morning devotional time that includes prayer and reading God’s Word.
Youth also assist in leading during our Sunday Worship Service at 11:00 a.m. by lighting the candles and carrying in the cross. Occasionally, they may read scripture.
Sunday Night Youth Activities
During the school year, we meet each Sunday night from 6:00pm-7:15pm for a time of fun, games, fellowship, community building, missions, Bible study, and deep discussions. A safe space is created for the youth to engage in the Bible, ask theological questions, and share their stresses and struggles as teenagers as they develop their individual understanding of what it means to follow Jesus, as well as grow together as the Body of Christ.
Check out our church calendar to see additional meeting times as well as other special events. There are mission opportunities, retreats, holiday parties, summer events, hiking, bowling nights, game nights, Lock-In’s, and more! We also have Youth Sunday in the spring.
We facilitate annual mission trips. In the years past, some of the locations to which we have traveled are New York City, Jackson, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Miami, Nashville, and Alaska.
