Sue Kelly Memorial Library

The Sue Kelly Memorial Library is named in memory of First Baptist’s first librarian, Miss Sue Adelia Kelly.  She was a long-time school principal, a poet, and a lifelong member of First Baptist.  During her tenure as the church librarian beginning in 1958, the library acquired over 3,300 volumes.  She also founded the church library at Warrenton Baptist Church.

Our church library was organized in 1954 and has grown to over 6,000 books, including approximately 2,000 books for children (birth to 8 years old) and 1,000 juvenile books (8 to 15 year olds). The Dewy 200 (Religion) section is our most extensive, though we have books in all Dewey categories and an interesting collection of biography and fiction. Audiovisual materials and equipment are also available.

We receive magazine and journals of religious import, many of them from Baptist organizations, to inform us of their work and opportunities for churches.

We are open Sunday from 9:30 until 10:55 and briefly after the morning worship service. Church members needing to use the library may ask a staff member to open the library during regular office hours. We welcome browsers!
