Children’s Ministry
Children at FBC Henderson
Our mission is to teach children Biblical knowledge and Christian living in order to facilitate spiritual growth and individual connection with God that encourages them to follow the way of Jesus, inside and outside of the church.
We teach age-appropriate foundational Biblical, theological, and spiritual concepts through a variety of activities and accommodating different learning styles on Sunday mornings and Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
Our Ministry Goals are…
To create a safe, loving, and fun atmosphere where children can encounter God.
To help children learn foundational Biblical concepts and become familiar with classic Bible stories.
To help children learn to worship, serve, and love like Christ.
To provide children with fun and build healthy spiritual relationships with peers and mentors that foster growth.
Nursery
Our Nursery is a safe place for our infants and toddlers to learn, play, and be cared for by our background checked volunteers and paid staff who are certified in first aid, CPR, and North Carolina Early Childcare.
The Nursery is open during Sunday church hours and on special occasions and is located on the 2nd floor of the Lark Educational Building.
Preschool
In addition to age-appropriate Sunday School classes for preschoolers and kindergarteners, First Baptist also offers opportunities for preschool worship and faith formation in Mission Friends.
Mission Friends is an after-school program of faith formation designed especially for pre-K and kindergarten students. This happens Tuesday afternoon from 3:15 p.m.-5:00 p.m. We present mission and Bible stories and other learning techniques such as Fingerplay, poems, songs, crafts, and games all led by Mrs. Connie and Mr. David Cole.
Children
Children’s Sunday School Meets at 9:45 a.m. every Sunday morning on the 3rd floor of the Lark Education Building. Children also assist in leading during our Sunday Worship Service at 11:00 a.m. by carrying in the Bible and lighting the candles.
Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons are dedicated to our after-school ministry where we learn to worship God through Bible teaching and music. Children also participate in mission activities that reinforce what they learn about God.
There are special events for our FBC children and their families! We have a Fall Festival, Children’s Advent Service, Easter Egg Hunt, and Vacation Bible School. We occasionally have Movie Nights, Camp at Willow Run, local missions, and other special events for kids and their families. We celebrate Children’s Sunday in May.
